The kids are in the pool, the lights come on over the patio, and nobody wants to go in. That's what an outdoor kitchen is for.
Fernweh Outdoor designs and builds custom outdoor kitchens across Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa, Queen Creek and the rest of the East Valley. We plan the layout, the utilities and the shade together from the start, so your kitchen works in real Arizona conditions, not just in the rendering.
Built the way that makes sense for your yard
There's more than one right way to build an outdoor kitchen island. We choose the method based on your layout, your finishes and your budget:
- Concrete block (CMU). Solid, heavy and built to last. A great fit for larger islands and heavy stone finishes.
- Steel frame. Strong and lighter weight, with more flexibility for custom shapes and layouts.
- Prefab island. A faster, more budget-friendly option for simpler layouts.
Whatever the structure, it's finished to match your home and landscape, with stone veneer, stucco, tile or stacked stone, and a countertop chosen to handle the sun.
Appliances
Our standard appliance line is Blaze, a well-built line with a strong reputation for outdoor use. If you have your heart set on another brand, we'll install it. Your kitchen can be as simple as a built-in grill and counter space, or as complete as side burners, a flat top, a pizza oven, a refrigerator, a sink and storage.
Gas done right, and permitted
Every gas line we install is run by a licensed plumber and permitted. Gas isn't the place to cut corners, and a permitted install protects you when it's time to sell your home or file an insurance claim.

Built for Arizona summers
An outdoor kitchen in full afternoon sun doesn't get used from June to September. That's why we typically pair outdoor kitchens with a shade structure, like a pergola or ramada, designed together so the cook and the guests stay out of the direct sun. See our Shade Structures page.
The shortcuts we don't take
- Wood framing. Wood inside an outdoor kitchen island rots, attracts termites and doesn't belong near a grill. We build with block, steel or prefab systems made for outdoor kitchens.
- No vent panels. Gas can collect inside a closed island. Vent panels let it escape, and every island we build with gas has them.
- No real overhang for bar seating. Without a proper countertop overhang, guests sit with their knees against the island. We build seating areas with enough overhang to actually sit and eat comfortably.
Our warranty
Every outdoor kitchen we build carries a 3-year workmanship warranty. Appliances are covered by their manufacturer's warranty.

What affects the cost
Outdoor kitchens start at $9,995. From there, cost depends on the size and shape of the island, the construction method, finishes and countertops, the appliance package, the gas, power and water runs needed, and whether a shade structure is part of the project.
What $9,995 typically includes: a built-in island with a 4-burner Blaze grill, access doors, pull-out storage drawers, and a concrete or granite countertop. Most clients add from there, with side burners, a fridge, a sink, bar seating or a shade structure.
