A true koi pond in the Valley has to solve a problem most builders skip past: keeping water clean and fish healthy through a 115°F summer. This Mesa project is a 500-gallon pond with 2-foot depth zones for temperature regulation, an upflow bog filter built to handle heat and bio-load, and aeration to keep oxygen levels up when it matters most. Rock and planting were placed to give the koi real cover, not just decoration.
